From pool splashes to coffee dashes.

It’s no news that we Melbournians take our coffee very, very seriously. Since the great coffee boom of the 1950s, coffee has become a way of life for many Australians, and those who call Melbourne home particular. With such an extensive and diverse specialty coffee history, it’s not hard to understand why.

Enriched with history of its own, Poolhouse Coffee can be found at 6 Franklin St, Melbourne, situated beneath the notable City Baths that has provided health and fitness services to the Melbourne public for more than 150 years. The building itself which was first built in 1860 is now best known as being one of Melbourne’s most architecturally and historically significant landmarks.

If the rich history and iconic location doesn’t excite you enough, maybe their cabinet of delicious, quick-fix lunch options will do the trick. Ham and cheese croissants, wraps, rice paper rolls, toasties, salads and sweet treats are among some of the popular ready-made items you can find at Poolhouse Coffee. Conveniently close to RMIT University, it is a hot spot for many students and the like to grab and go in between classes.

Whilst the menu from Poolhouse may sound appetising, it’s in fact the coffee that is the main attraction, and it all comes down to the beans that are roasted in house fresh, everyday. With unmatched attention to detail, each lot of coffee at Poolhouse is carefully selected, profiled and tweaked by their coffee connoisseurs before finding itself in your cup.

Poolhouse Coffee’s unique interior charm is all thanks to the talent of owner, Luke Taylor, who fitted out the cafe himself with handmade pieces from ‘Interspace’. His side gig, an art and furniture studio which can be checked out here: interspacedesign.com.au

For post swim feeds or a quick coffee between classes, you can find Poolhouse Coffee at 6 Franklin St, Melbourne beneath the Melbourne City Baths.
